Aircraft Maintenance Technician Apprentice (Avionic) (YQB)

Who are we?

 

WAAS Aerospace Inc. has been in operation since 2014 and is a Transport Canada-approved maintenance organization. We operate from facilities located on the South Shore of Montreal at Saint-Hubert Airport (CYHU) and in Quebec City at Jean Lesage International Airport (CYQB).

 

We provide line and scheduled maintenance services, avionics modifications, and research and development services for business aircraft and large carriers. We also offer 24/7 "Aircraft on Ground" (AOG) services to help clients meet on-time departure obligations and minimize downtime.

 

Our parent company, Chrono Aviation, was founded in Quebec City in 2012. The company started with a Pilatus PC-12 and employed two pilots. Today, Chrono Aviation Group operates a fleet of 15 aircraft and has a team of 280 employees.

 

Role and context

 

The Avionics Technician Apprentice works under the supervision of certified technicians to ensure the maintenance, repair, and inspection of avionics systems (communication, navigation, sensors, and control systems). They assist with routine inspections, diagnostics, and the overhaul of avionics systems in compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards. This position offers hands-on learning in a high-tech environment.

 

Key responsibilities

 

             Assist in the inspection and maintenance of avionics systems (radios, radars, navigation systems).

             Perform diagnostic tests under supervision to identify malfunctions in avionics systems.

             Participate in the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of avionics components.

            

             Follow safety guidelines and company protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

             Participate in preventive and corrective maintenance tasks under supervision.

             Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.

             Good communication skills for interacting with supervisors and colleagues.

             Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Specific job requirements

 

             Enrollment in an avionics training program (DEC or AEC in aircraft maintenance).

             Strong understanding of avionics systems (electronics, computing, and communication).

             Familiarity with tools and equipment used in avionics maintenance.

             Fluency in French is required, and a good command of English is necessary to interact with English-speaking clients.
